Lebron to the Mavs - Dallas Fans Are Doin It Up!

So with Lebron being the hottest FA in the history of the NBA, it was only a matter of time when the fans of certain cities take things to another level. Point in case, the fans of the Dallas Mavericks. They started a website, twitter and facebook page to endorse their case for why Lebron James needs to reach Dallas. On top of it all, they have made a really catchy tune that you can find on their website singing why he should come to Dallas, "we have no income tax so you can just relax..." i likey....

I love seeing stuff like this, hopefully someone who reads our blog or maybe even us (hmmmm) can do something for CB4!!

check out the site, lebrontothemavs.com and on there you will be able to hear the song and check out the tweets, and their facebook page.

Nice work Dallas....

Amare - what's wrong with you guy....seriously. Why?

Just reading espn.com and rotoworld, and stumbled upon this goodie. According to both sites Amare after practice shot his mouth, and sounded like a 15 year old in the process.

The news bit reads as such:
"Amare Stoudemire said on Tuesday that Lamar Odom's 19 points and 19 boards on Monday were a result of luck.

"I'm not giving him no hype right now; he had a lucky game in Game 1," Stoudemire said of Odom. Alvin Gentry said Stoudemire's comments were "ridiculous," while Odom didn't take the 'war of words' bait. "So be it," Odom said. "Hopefully I can have another lucky one."

This was obviously a poor decision by Amare and his teammates have probably let him have it. And if they haven't, this series is probably over.
Source: ESPN.com "

That last paragraph pretty much sums my thoughts on the outcome of this series. I had told Sunder prior to game 1 that this can possibly be a sweep. I feel a little more confident in my prediction knowing what kind of a squad LAL can be when things get a little personal. Ask JR Smith about last season during the playoffs as to what happened to him and his Nuggets squad..... Anyhow Amare being some what of a seasoned vet in this league should no a little better, and what he's essentially done is turn the focus of this series on him.

If buddy doesn't put up a nice 30/18 line in game 2 + a win, he's gonna never hear the end of it. The Suns seem like a close squad and crew, Amare is the recipient of a lot of those Nash dimes. So what I'm thinking is the following:

Nash is having a heart to heart with Amare right now and is like, "dog, what the hell man, why'd you have to run your mouth?" Amare responds with, "steve give me the rock bro, just feed me all game, ill prove everyone wrong. Ill show the world...."

Steve Nash being a good team mate, friend and a boy of Amare's will be like...."Aiiight, homie, aigghht."

So Amare will come out with a head of steam and play right into a game plan devised by Phil and Kobe, get like 3 quick fouls early on and the Lakers will attack the Suns much like they did in game 1, all the meanwhile they'll be f'n with Amare from start to finish. They'll play the Suns like a puppet, and before you know it the Lakers will be up by 20 and the game is finito.

Lamar had a solid game and jus cause your team and yourself played like doo doo, giving up 128 pts in a playoff game (which you can never ever do if you wanna be considered one of the top teams in the L), you gotta make a dumb ass comment like the one above? Dude WTF!? If you were seeking attention then congrats you got it. If you wanted to jus f**k with Lamar, well you have another thing coming bro. The Lakers, do this for a living (win chips that is). Kerr is most likely gonna give it to him and his team mates right now going into game 2 are probably f'n pissed with the dude. Like you've alienated yourself in the locker room, just like that pic buddy, take a close look at the pic for this post. That'll be you at the 1/2 of game 2.....

Sabotage!?! Probably not.
Dumbassness!?! Probably.

Steve Nash, my Canadian Brother, goodluck.

Oh yah, Amare you just earned the Big Kev (@_bigkev_) foo of the week award for that comment.....foo.

Lebron James - you thought we wouldn't say anything else...

I just flew in from NY yesterday and while I was there I checked out ESPN non stop, hit up the NBA store and perused the assortment of NBA/Basketball specific magazines to New York City. Even though the playoffs are heating up and things are getting crazy, the only thing on the mind of New Yorkers is, Lebron James.

Seems to me they are totally convinced he's coming over to sign that max deal, like tomorrow. I had called the Cavs dismantling in the 2nd round or the Eastern Conference Finals this season, from time kids. Sunder highlighted what and why they lost and you really can't argue with his points at all. Now based on Lebron and his 1 man circus antics for the past 7 seasons, does it make a difference if he actually does go to the horrendous Knicks? I mean Melo, has Billups, KD & co are a young squad that need perhaps a veteran to help lead them over the proverbial 'hump'. Wade like Lebron has been a one man show for quite a bit and has had no success in the post season as has our very own CB4. Wade however won a chip when he was paired up with a formidable Shaq a few years back, when the big diesel still had a 1/2 litre in the tank.

So what I'm trying to get at, these guys need to defer at times to a 'General', a veteran presence who's been there and done that to seek success. Guys who at times were the "Man" but are aging and are willing to take the 2nd seat in order to achieve greater success are perhaps necessary to win it all in the greatest league in the world. Look at Orlando, its no doubt there who the man is, but when you have guys like Lewis and VC who have been the "man" for the better parts of their career content on droppin 12ppg or the occasional 25ppg when duty calls, your squad will be pretty hard to beat. It however takes a certain type of attitude adjustment for a superstar to defer at times to another guy for the greater good of the team. Knowing the spotlight will not always be on you at times......ego....

I am not saying that the only way to win a chip is in this manor (but LAL has Gasol, the C's have KG/Ray Ray and Pierce) but its a pretty decent formula. Sure the Cavs have or had Jamison on the squad, but he came 1/2 way thru the season and has never really been the "man", more of a great, great sf/pf who can be a decent piece on a squad.

With all this being said, I don't think a move to the Knicks is that far fetched at all. Seriously, considering Lebron's intentions career and fame wise, does it really matter if the Knicks are really very far off from signing this guy and have a long way to go to achieve success. A lot of my boys and peeps in general think that Bron will stay in Cleavland cause there "almost there". Well I personally don't know what to think about the entire situation, since its Lebron. This guy has proven time and time again he's not the brightest light in the lamp and would rather become a conglomerate then a NBA chip winner.

He obviously does want to win but there is a huge difference between a guy like Kobe and Lebron. The argument "who's better" I don't think is an argument until the guy actually wins something besides all star votes and popularity contests. He is an icon already and can really take it to another level in NY, I am sure of it. If I'm 25 years old, at the prime of my career and am simply Lebron James, then I'm going to the place where the street lights will inspire you.....

His one man show antics will make any team automatically a playoff contender each season but, the guy needs to somehow find that balance as his peers who have had success have done it. The Knicks and Lebron are perhaps the identical entity if you really think about what both are about.....(....messsssssage !!! A la, don't be a menace lol)

Beat it Cleveland

No other way to say it. Cleveland got exposed as a one man team last night, thus jeopardizing the existence of basketball in Cleveland. If you think cities like Toronto has it bad with their sport teams, Cleveland's got it worse. LeBron James and the Cavs got beaten by a more complete team in the Celtics in every facet you could imagine. From Kevin Garnett playing like he did in his prime, Tony Allen giving the Celts good energy off the bench to Rajon Rondo completely out playing Mo Williams, who I feel is extremely over rated. I posted it earlier, you don't win with dudes like Jamario Moon on your squad. It's not natural or right.

If you look at the above image with LeBron being surrounded by those ballers, that's how they beat him. Their are 2 choices when you are battling a superstar and his squad, 1) Let LeBron do his thing and shut his teammates down or 2) shut LeBron down and let his squad beat you. Too bad his teammates didn't get that memo. Mo Williams, Shaq and Antawn Jamison all got outplayed in their positions, particularly Jamison who had to battle against a healthy KG. But for me, Mo Williams was extremely disappointing. How do you go off for 20 in the half and then 2 in the second half? Inexcusable. Rondo destroyed you like Big Kev destroys pints. It seemed when the Cavs got down, they just put the ball in Bron's hands and watched him. No movement, no cuts, nothing. Even though he had a bad series, this does not fall on LeBron's, the guys a baller and was beat by a team that plays great defense and knows what it takes to win in crunch time.

The big question with Cleveland is what happens now? Do you re-tool again and try again or does Bron comes to his senses and realize he has a better chance in Chicago? KG said it best last night, loyalty can hurt you. If the Cavs made the Conference Finals or NBA Finals, I would have said Bron stays, but the second round exit makes you now question if the time has come to explore his options. Since this kid came into the league, he has had the unbelievable pressure of resurrecting the Cavs and the city of Cleveland. You know Shaq is gone, Jamison isn't going anywhere with his contract, Mo Williams played himself out of going to a contender. The rest of the team is either getting older (Parker, Big Z) or they just don't fit into the Cavs to make it work any more. Mike Brown has to go as well. His rotations and stagnant play calling really hurt this team. All year you saw the Cavs smiling and dancing and play care free. That same cockiness and attitude disappeared. With Orlando looking like the squad to beat in the East for a while and Boston still hanging on, the Cavs window is coming to a close. I'm a basketball fan and I think it is important for Bron to get his ring, just like Kobe, Garnett and Duncan got theirs, and the biggest thing Bron has to do to get his is get rid of all this talk of being a billionaire and business man and stick to playing ball. Once he does that, everything will line up for him.

In Toronto, when are teams get eliminated, I take it as a kick to the shin, knowing our team wasn't good enough again. In Cleveland, the last 2 years have to got feel like they have been kicked in the balls, only this time, they ain't getting up from this kick. I would tell Cleveland to cheer up, but they got the Browns and Indians, but hey it could be worse, you could live in Buffalo. DREW CAREY RULES!!!

REMEMBER MY NAME: EDDIE ALVAREZ THE BEST KEPT SECRET

When I think of MMA we think of one thing, UFC. Ultimate Fighting Championship is the biggest mixed martial art promotion on the planet, it has the biggest and best fighter's in the world. This article is going to tell you about a figher whom well deserves a champion place in the UFC, however he is currently not fighting in this event.

Eddie Alvarez (The Silent Assassin) is a mixed martial artist coming out of Philadelphia, Pa. At a young age of 26 years old he holds the lightweight championship in Bellator fighting promotion, in my personal opinion he is ranked top three for LW division. Alvarez became a pro fighter at just 19 years old, he made a name for himself throughout the MMA world, he also put an impressive record of 10 straight wins before losing to Nick Thompson at defunt promotion Bodogfight in 2007. Since then he has accumulated ten more victories to his resume with only one defeat.

However when I speak about him through fight fans around the bars or general conversations with people at work, they seemed to not know anything about him nor ever heard of him. Well that just proves that majority of mma fans are just set in watching UFC versus being a purist and follow other promotions. Unfortunate because there are a lot of great fighters outside the UFC and there out there trying to make a name for themselves regardless of the limelight the UFC has, Eddie Alvarez should be some of the fighter's on your mind when you think about fighter's and a guy that deserves some recognition.

Fighting in various MMA promotions throughout his career, Alvarez has caught the attention of many MMA fans worldwide as he has dominated in majority of his fight's with top flight fighters in array of different venues, including Bodogfight, Dream, and his current promotion Bellator. To add to his resume he at one point hold the BoDogfight welterweight championship and had made it to the semifinal Dream lightweight semifinals where a unfortunate injury to the eye held him from fighting in the finals. Last year he added the Bellator Lightweight championship to his resume as he defeated MMA veteran Toby Imada with a impressive rear naked choke in the second round.

Recently Alvarez has continued his dominating ways in Bellator as he defeated former UFC fighter Josh Neer with a rear naked choke at Bellator 17 on May 6th to continue his impressive win streak of 5 consecutive fights. More impressive is that his 5 ways of victories came via submission. Only two of his twenty wins have gone to decision. Alvarez is a explosive fighter with amazing submission skills with a relentless striking prowless. Fans can expect fireworks with Alvarez's fights, he puts everything on the line to prove that he belongs (which he does) in one of the MMA's most respected divisions.

Alvarez standouts as a figher with his relentless ability to perform and his drive to be improve and challenge himself. There was not once through his career where he showed signs of slowing down he strives aggressively reach the top in the lighweight fighters world. Alvarez is set to be one of best up-and-comers in the MMA world which I find that hard to belive because he is one of the best kept secrets. I would consider him in the mix with Frankie Edgar, Bj Penn, and Gilbert Melendez.

Here are a quick look at his credentials:

Record: 20 wins 2 losses. 11 knockouts 7 submissions

Notable fights: Scott Smith, Toby Imada, Joachim Hansen. Tatsuya Kawajiri, Shinya Aoki, and Josh Neer.

Championships:

Former Welterweight Champions for BoDogFight Promotion
Dream Lightweight Grandprix semifinalist
Current Bellator Lightweight Champion.

Sherdog.com rankings: 5th Lightweight
Brokeanklesblogspot rankings: 3rd Lightweight

So remember his name. EDDIE ALVAREZ (THE SILENT ASSASSIN)...

I Told Everyone - Orlando/LAL - Its Goin Down

Orlando so far this post season has just been on a role. They have yet to lose this post season and tonight I expect them to close out Atlanta and wait on the winner between the Celtics/Cavs series. A few months back I wrote about the seasons biggest disappointments and surprises and I had the Magic as a disappointment at the half way point of the season. However I did mention that pound for pound their team on paper was just to good not to be producing at a high level but I did also mention that in order for that to take place Dwight and Vince had to be playing at a high level and find that "just right" dynamic between themselves in order for this team to click.

From the All Star break onwards this Orlando team has been in an upward swing and has been rolling thru the NBA. Vince stepped it up, Jameer came back and was rockin and Dwight was just a monster. So far during this playoff run Dwight has really taken charge of this team leading them in all facets of play with guys like Pietrus, Lewis and Nelson helping the charge. Vince has yet to find consistency but is knocking down shots and scoring in bunches as its needed. Factor this on some great play making on VC's part, the Magic are looking good. I anticipate the next series the Magic have (eastern conference finals) Vince will be "step step, steppin up" and at that point this team will be really very difficult for them to lose.

I have liked this Magic team to be a finals contender since they made that Vince Carter trade last summer. Hedo fit that team well but Vince adds a whole other dimension and dynamic this Magic team needed to get over the "hump". A showdown between both the Cavs (like their chances against the C's) and (ill go outta limb and say LAL) will be what the NBA really wants. Lebron vs Dwight, and Dwight vs Kobe in the finals. The NBA has showcased Lebron and Wade heavily throughout the years, with Howard getting tons of exposure for his dunk off antics, but now they can showcase their next great big man in the finals spectrum of things, with a real chance to de thrown the Lakers. Great stuff here for Stern.....

Either way I called this from time, and just thought I'd remind the brokeankles universe about this. The Cavs are a phenomenal team, but I just don't like their genetic make up against a team like Orlando. Seriously. The only team that I think and have thought that can dismantle the Cavs in a seven game series are the Magic. The Magic have a better starting five, a better bench and about three guys out on the perimeter that can break down anyone on the Cavs.

Let's see what happens, there is still some ways to go but I'm feeling good about this Magic team.

When will we ever see a rematch between Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch?

The anticipated match between two top ranked welterweight Thiago Alves vs. Jon fitch that was supposed to take place at UFC 111: St. Pierre vs. Hardy, then again for UFC 115, has once been rescheduled for UFC 117.

The pitbull (16-6) is a month removed from having successful surgery to repair a brain “irregularity” that doctors discovered during a UFC 111 CT scan. Alves was supposed to be out for three weeks, however made a speedy recovery and was scene lightly practicing before the original due date.

“We are just making sure Alves is 100% healthy,” said UFC president Dana white.

Alves holds a impressive record 9-3 in the UFC, however hasn’t been in the octagon since being dominated by division welterweight champion George St. Pierre at UFC 100 last July.

In their first encounter at “UFC Fight Night 5” back in 2006, Fitch landed a perfectly executed up-kick to Alves chin in the 2nd round that ultimately put the pitbull to sleep.

Fitch who holds an incredible professional record of (22-3) is considered by many MMA sources as the world’s second best welterweight. However with a impressive record, the wrestler hasn’t posted a crowd pleasing finish in his 6 fights. All of them come way by of decision.
UFC 117 is set to take place August 7th inside the Oracle arena in Oakland, California, Rumoured to be headline by a middleweight tilt between Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen.

LET'S JUST HOPE THIAGO ALVES IS READY TO GO. CAN NO LONGER WAIT ANOTHER FEW MONTHS TO SEE PITBULL FIGHT.

Bellator 17: Roger Huerta set to face Pat Curran in the semi-finals of the Bellator Lightweight tourney

Roger El Matador Huerta (27-3-1-1NC) is looking to revamp his rankings in the lightweight division while in Bellator. In his debut with the promotion his first fight was against a strong fighter Chad Hinton, which he won by a slick technical submission (kneebar) in round three. That fight took place roughly a month ago and is set to keep moving on in the tournament, and he will half to get pass Pat Curran on Thursday in order to get a shot at current Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.

Expect to see Huerta’s evolving striking to be showcased on Thursday, as he has spent a considerable amount of time in Thailand training in muay thai. Now a much more complete mixed martial artist, I look for Huerta to mix it up and stay toe to toe against Curran. Coming in as a wrestler, Huerta now has more confidence in his striking and doesn’t need to rely on his wrestling in the fight. Having followed his mma career since i was introduce to the sport he is that type of calibre fighter to love to mix it up with unorthodox striking combinations, explosive takedowns, and better yet has a chin to back it all up. Reasons as to why he has been an influence to my fight career. I should expect him to let his strikes go and try to keep attacking Curran whom would hope to take Huerta to the later rounds which El Matador isn’t a stranger to.

Pat Curran who surprisingly knocked out Mike Ricci at Bellator 14 to advance to the semi finals must be feeling on top of the world at this point. Pat is looking for making a name for himself against the well known Huerta. At age 22 Pat would need all of his 13 experience fights while fighting Huerta, who has twenty plus on his record.

One thing Pat should know and should be aware of is that Huerta is harder to put away than saying no thanks to a chubby girl at a bar. Even though Curran show KO prowless in his hand, he shouldn`t look to go into a slug-fest with the more experience Huerta. Curran is a younger fighter and a potential ranked lightweight and it will be interesting to see if Curran can handle the pace of The Killer as it could be too much at such a young career.

Playoff and NBA Rants in the 2nd Round

Not sure how ill attack this, well format wise but here I go.....

Congrats to Lebron, back to back MVP awards and you are only 25 years old. Jordan had 6 in total, I'm sure you'll be up there as well. But get that chip, and at 25 you will solidify yourself as one of the greatest ever (despite all my hating) I give your game mad props.

Cleveland is looking like the LAL in the east, shaky yet effective.

The Bucks are foreal, and Brandon Jennings should have been a co-rookie of the year winner a la, kidd/hill in ummm 93 I think? If anyone has doubts still about your game, actually wtf am I talking about? No doubts, you are the real deal. Can't wait till next season to see a healthy Bogut and Redd playing alongside you. Sick.

'@chrisbosh, let me rephrase, should I stay or should I go' .....watchu think son? My question is the following; is it really necessary to rub it in our faces!?!

Is Deron Williams the best PG in the league yet? I think so....Utah, my boy Dennis said it best today, you guys are always going to be a great, great 2nd round team. Forever, something needs to give....I wanna see Deron playing on prime time all the time.

D.Rose/J.Noah, why can't the Raptors get guys like you? Ok can we just settle on having guys with heart and balls like you guys? Please, pretty please.

"I am glad we played Chicago in the first round rather then the Raptors b/c...." Thanks Mr MVP for punking us. Great.

Vince Carter, are you there?

Orlando vs Cleveland, eastern conference war is imminent, I'm taking Orlando in 6. Yah I said it, any takers.....

How awesome is Joakim Noah. Foreal. Note to the Raptors big men, watch Noah, on and off the court, and learn. Get that tape, DVD or whatever, and just watch him.

"We never give up....its all about...step,step,steppin up, we never give up..." I love that commericial, need to d/l and pump it quick in the ride. Oh yah and the Nike Hyperizers track, check youtube.com/brokeanklesblog if you haven't seen it already.

Non NBA related - did you know Kim Kardashian is knockin a new set of cleats now.....

Back to the NBA.....

Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace are f'n sick. Can't wait to play with them in NBA Jam 2010

Durant aka Velvet Hoop and Westbrook. Wow. Again let me rephrase that...holy shit. You guys are gonna own this league in 2 more years, KD you were my MVP this year. Good run boys, great run.

Gasol is pretty solid, like he needs at least 20 touches a game, Artest doesn't wanna score anymore so Ron Ron say it out loud, "I want to give all my shots to Pau". If that happens, LAL is almost 100% guaranteed to win back to back chips, Gasol averaging plus 20 a game with Kobe @ 30ppg, done and done son.

Did you all know that the Bobcats were in the playoffs this year. Seriously, if you don't believe me, check box scores from two weeks ago.

Rajon Rondo got smoked, aerial assault last game. Mo Williams aka Fog Raw, KG is watching you....let's see KG pull that Q Rich shit in Cleveland, I dare him too. But you know something is going down. FYI Back2Back and Pierce don't like each other to much.

Spurs are still in it....Cuban, what to do bro!? You've tried any and everything, maybe its time to liquidate.

Think better Chris

After viewing Chris Bosh's twitter feed this past weekend in where he asked his followers where he should go and why, I thought here's an athlete who really cares what his fans think and we get a glimpse into his thought process a little bit. Or my other thought, how boozed up was he when tweeted this. Really how much thought and decision is going to go from his 96,000+ followers in where he goes? I guarantee he got everyone from every NBA city to tweet that they should come to their squad. Is he really going to listen to them? Chris Bosh is a smart dude and this a good way to get his name talked about during the playoffs, but I think he could have handled this a little better.

Do you honestly think if the majority of those tweets told Chris he should come to Minnesota or Sacramento, he would listen to them and sign there? That perhaps is taking your fans for granted and not really caring about their opinion. In Chris's exit press conference, he indicated that he has only had to change his life twice, once in deciding to go to Georgia Tech and the other is being drafted by Toronto. I truly believe, Chris is going to take his time in deciding where he is going to play next year. So that's why I can't understand his tweet on Friday. I can understand if he asked his following where he should go for vacation, where to eat, but not where to play. Seems weird and out of place. Since Chris got here, he has played hard and has never complained about his situation and has arguably become the top PF in the league as well as a top 10 player, but he hasn't won. Part of that is the squads that have been built around him, the coaches and timing (Boston acquiring the big 3). Chris does deserve some of the blame though, like his defense and tendencies to disappear in some games, but he still is the best player in Toronto and has done more good than bad.

If Chris does decide to leave, I do not think it will be the end of the Raps. BC will do something to make this team better. Also, how bad could it be? If you haven't won with Bosh, how much more can you lose without him? Chris has embraced Toronto has his second home and if he wasn't in his twenties living in one of the coolest cities in the world, he would have bolted a long time ago. Face it, for night life, Toronto is one of the best around. I think Chris will leave this summer and get his chance to win, but then again, it could blow up in his face. Look at when Grant Hill left Detroit, the Pistons won their chip not too long after that. Hopefully Raps fans can get that feeling soon, with or without Bosh.
