Why?? Cause I am assuming there is a certain amount of professionalism when dealing with $125MM on the table and class you would expect from someone you have given the spotlight to for 7 years. That party involved in these discussions isn't exactly reciprocat-ing the same kind of class back to the organization. Meaning Chris, what are you doing? My boy Eric Smith (best ball broadcaster in the country, fyi) a few weeks back on the game plan, gave Chris Bosh an enthusiastic thumbs down for the way Bosh has been dealing with this entire FA situation, especially in terms of his media appearances i.e. Interviews, TV appearances, etc. For Eric Smith to do that, well, that's saying a lot.
Since the season ended, I can personally say that Chris Bosh, the face of the Raptors since the departure of Vince Carter (the GOAT in raps history **i don't care what anyone says!!**), has been really stand offish with the Toronto media. I haven't seen him on RapsTV, TheScore or heard him on the FAN590. Which are all the major ball outlets in Toronto. If Bosh decided to wear a Leaf Jersey or an FC jersey for that matter as he strolled thru the mall on a weekend, TSN would be all over it...that's a post for another day....but Bosh really hasn't said anything about his outlook or status in regards to Toronto, or his situation to any media outlet in Toronto. That's fine and all, but when you are all over ESPN (mike and mike), TV/Radio in Chicago, Dallas and whatever other potential FA destinations you have stopped by, then that aint cool in my books. Especially for a city that praises you any chance it gets.
The report that broke about the Raps not being too concerned about a possible S/T w/ Bosh and the back bone of this post, is a little strange to me. I definitely see where the Raps are coming on this one, as I stated above, but as an organization you do need to get something back in return for this guy. Not like what we got back in the best deal of all time (vc-nj-babcock) but something of a little substance we can use on the court or apart of a bigger deal in the future. Reading our Twitter feed and my personal one as well, there is no major FA even interested in talking to the Raptors. I mean I don't hear anything or see anything that gives us any chance of signing any kind of player, of substance. So its imperative we get something back for Mr Bosh when he decides on a team to join.
Therefore the Raptors need to force the issue with him and his agent to look at destinations that can do a sign and trade w/ us or a possible third team to get involved and help us out, while Bosh goes to greener pastures. Either way next season, we're gonna be in some deep ish in terms of the W column. Everything with this franchise needs to change, and maybe its time they put their foot down and really try to make things happen in the right direction. #youngguns....if your on Twitter you know what I'm talking about!!
I'm not sure what exactly triggered this sentiment between Bosh and the Raptors, but I have a strong feeling his tweets over the last few days may have something to do with it.....
In order, going backwards, some @chrisbosh highlights on Twitter:
"Finally back in my environment. #freeagency has been a whirlwind. This decision is not going to be easy..."
"Chicago's next. This is the last of the day."
"Finished with the Knicks. Another impressive one. I'm starving!"
"I'm starving and ready for dinner. Grabbing some food with close friends... Maybe we'll discuss everything that happened today"
"Off to a great start. First one went well. Pat Riley is very passionate about winning"
and my personal fav, I think everyone's fav....drumroll please......
"After all these years... Just 24 hrs left..... Wow. I'm getting anxious."
I hope @chrisbosh continues to follow us on twitter and our blog, going forward. Not trying to bash you or "him" but its just really, really tough to get behind him right now and this Raptors organization in general. What I wouldn't do to be GM for 2 days.....hmmmmm
