But, yesterday I finally had a chance to watch Chris Bosh First Ink, essentially a documentary about CB4 getting his fist tat, and the trials and tribulations of the process. Pretty neat concept for a DVD, but I guess when you have tons of cash and a lifestyle that allows you to do just about anything you want, you can make a video on just about anything!
The documentary itself is short and sweet, hearing Chris talk about his life in Toronto, and meeting some of his crew is awesome, as he's one of Toronto's most beloved sports figures and it gives peeps an in depth look at what he's all about. I mean he seems really approachable and in fact was hanging 3 mins away from my old condo!!!! The production value is astonishing, its shot really well and the beats within the doc go well with the whole feel for the movie...."Rep t dot till they bury me, b b buryy me....". The tat itself is pretty cool, and this documentary shows the nay sayers in his crew and the opinion they have on Chris getting a tat, and then it shows the peeps in his crew that are all for it, nice way to balance things out. Its short, simple and well done, throughout the doc, he gives some insight into himself, the city and playing for the Raptors.
The best part of this DVD in fact is not so much the documentary, but the bonus features, and the "interviews" portion. I hit play all and just watched him sitting in a dark empty ACC, answering and fielding questions from everything including, winning, toronto, vince carter, the leafs, tim hortons, the fans and his sudden rise to fame. Really interesting outlook on things, and its great to see someone so candid and honest, especially a sports star from (well who plays for our city). You get an understanding of where he's at mentally, and where he wants to be. Where's he from, and how that's shaped him into the man he is today. All really good stuff. There was another section in the DVD, viral stuff from CBTV (his youtube channel) I haven't had a chance to watch all the stuff, but there is defintley some funny business for sure, post career you can mos def see him infront of a camera in some capacity.
All in all, its an entertaining watch, and something much needed for the Toronto Raptor contingent. Chris is a pretty quiet guy on the outset but he's very outspoken, and quite the comedian in other capacities. Catch his Jay Leno, finals coverage from a couple years back if you haven't already done so, classic stuff. If you are a Bosh fan, or a Raptor fan then this DVD is a must own, and even if your not, try to check it out in some capacity.
I'm gonna give this hmmmm... 4/5 jumpman, not the whole 5 cause I think the documentary portion coulda been just a little longer, cause it was very entertaining. But then again there's the train of thought, that you want your fans yearning for more, yah that's cool but I dropped 20 bones down son!!! I need more!!!!
