FORGET THE MODERN DAY MIXED MARTIAL ARTIST, GSP IS THE HYBRID-GENERATION MIXED MARITAL ARTIST

Now who to say isn't excited about this fight card coming up in Newark New Jersey. From top to bottom the card is stacked. Welterweight championship belt is on the line, and interm heavyweight title in up for grabs and two welterweight fighters gunning for position for top contention for a date with the welterweight king. In honesty this is going to be a explosive card filled with blood sweat and tears. For GSP's sake let's hope him on top doesn't end saturday night.

George St. Pierre the most well rounded mixed martial artist in the world will once again put his title on the line to the heavy handed Dan " The Outlaw" Hardy . It's no question as to what GSP game plan is heading into the fight, beat him systematically. Hardy has some good hands and exciting unorthodox combos on different angles but remember this is MMA, not boxing. The welterweight titlist has dismantled his opponents in his last three title defense. Jon Fitch, BJ Penn, and Thiago Alves. Eversince his lost to Matt Serra, St. Pierre (19-2) has reconstructed his training, his abillity to put fear behind him, and being able to do what he is good at, wear and tear his opponents. GSP has combined God-given athletic gifts with an unquenchable work ethic, restless until perfection in his game his status is a new template for a hybrid-generation mixed martial artist. With his ever improving wrestling, striking and athleticism he has become a bonafide superstar, and a dangerous person to go up against in the cage. The man is unpredictable, with different variables he has and the abillity to analyze his opponents moves. The man is the beast. The man will make you tired even before you think you are and once he catches your mistake atleast you can say I got beat by a better man this night. Worst part of it all he hasn't reached his peaked of his prime yet and he is still getting better. The 2009 Fighter's Only fighter of year has shown great stride to become the greatest mixed marital artist in the world and the only thing left for him to do is to challenge himself a little further and moving up a weight division.

It wasn't long that a 185 lbs pound welterweight fighter was considered huge. A weight former ufc welterweight champ Matt Hughes walks around during his amazing 5 year run on top until meeting his prodigy GSP. Ironically it's the same weight GSP walks around at. However that was a long time ago and the young sport of mixed martial arts has evolved, which in this case bigger is better.

For the first time in his career GSP fought a big welterweight in Thiago Alves back on UFC 100. Rumours had it that he walks around at 215 lbs, and Dana White has even stated he has mistaken Alves at times to lightheavy weight product and friend of GSP Rashad Evans.

"When I fought [Thiago Alves at UFC 100], he was walking around at 215 pounds," St-Pierre stated. "I used to walk around at 185. I really felt that when I was fighting Alves, that he was big."
After experiencing a larger opponent, St. Pierre decided to pack on more pounds to keep paced to the ever changing ways of the division. Normally doesn't watch what he eats and also stated that he loves mcdonalds he decided to follow a strict dietary plan that will enable him to gain muscle to improve his power. A area inwhich GSP lacks. Out of his 19 wins only 8 of them were knockouts and 5 of it was via submission. St. Pierre is well aware of the area he needs to improve on and wants nothing more than to showcase the improve GSP this saturday.

Although the additional eight pounds of muscle he added will make the weight cutting process a little more difficult, he believes it will pay off in the end."The weight cut going to be harder this time, but it’s not a problem for me," he stated. "My conditioning is 110 percent. I’m used to cutting weight. I do it in a very scientific way and I don’t tire myself doing it. It’s very important that I have a protocol to follow and everything is on schedule."

While Hardy may be looking to turn his first title fight into a bloody brawl, the champ plans on painting the perfect portrait on the Octagon’s canvas.

"I want to win in a beautiful fashion," said St. Pierre. "I want somebody that doesn’t know this sport of mixed martial arts to watch me fight and say, ‘Hey, that guy that does that fight uses a beautiful technique.’ That’s when the artistic part comes into play."

St-Pierre’s decision to add muscle could also be an indicator that he’s getting ready to make the jump up to the middleweight divsion and solitify his legacy. The only thing to question St. Pierre that night is what color will be his booty shorts?

**** seeing as this post has been put up after the fight, they were black, and he came out to "juicy" rather then his normal gangster montreal rap music.
