EX-UFC STAR ROGER HUERTA SIGNS WITH BELLATOR

So my favorite fighter of all time that was released from the UFC has now found a new home and a new format to prove to everyone why he is the killer.

Call it a killing second chance. What looked like a clouded future to once considered a threat to the UFC's lightweight division, it was uncertain as to where the 26 year old would sign and whether he still had the desire to continue to fight. After consecutive losses in the octagon for the first time in his career, it was hard pressed as to which promotion he will likely sign with and whether or not he still has it in him to continue to display his exciting style of fighting. For months rumours had it that Huerta (20-3-1) was going to sign with San Jose based promotion STRIKEFORCE the major promotion rival to the UFC but the fighter's demands quelled it's interest. It was a good thing Strikeforce wasn't able to fulfill terms with Roger because I did not see the lightweight division being as competitive than the ufc therefore lacking the abilty to deliever fights on the regular basis.

Speculations as to Huerta asking price according to outside sources from his camp was a $250, 000 signing bonus. A price tag that had Japan's top promotion Dream turning away from the superstar. However one organization that was not fazed by Huerta's demands decided to take a chance. Bellator- a tournament based promotion that debuted in 2009 to strong reviews has landed one of mma's brightest and most talented fighter in the lightweight world. Terms of the deal was not disclose but Bjorn Rebney the CEO's chicago based promotion considered the contract to be fair for both parties. "It was a very easy decision to make after a very long and exhaustive negotiation with his management and attorneys," Rebney said. "But it came through." Rebney envision Huerta's hollywood looks and risky style of fighting will generate interest to new fans aswell as improve ratings to there 3 television deals, telemundo, fox sports net and NBC. "Huerta as a the kind of fighter who brings an "extra something into the cage and into the organization."With that being said, here comes the risk factor.

Huerta understands that this is a tournament format promotion. Roger has to prove himself everytime when he steps in to the octagon and when you have unknown prospects going up against a guy with a name they will thrown everything they have to have chance to have a name for themselves so yeah it is risky. Which assuming he does his jobs and brings his A game everytime in the cage against a cast of unknown fighters not only will he will crack the top 10 in the lightweight rankings, he will also get a $100, 000 tournament win bonus plus a shot at Bellator's lightweight king Eddie Alvarez (19-2).The tournament format is simple. You win, you move on. You lose, you go home. Similar to the NCAA March madness tournament, you will always have your sleepers inwhich case that doesn't happened to Huerta's journey. For Huerta's desire to fight on a regular basis again will be tough, he has only competed twice in the spand of two years because taking some time off to act but it is something I know Roger isn't too concern about."It's like March Madness," Huerta said. "The best team is going to win. It's perfect for me."Should things work out for him and I know it will be easy as him getting women with a snap of a finger he will have to fight and win three times in three months and it all begins on April 8
