UFC LIGHTWEIGHT SHOCKER, FRANKIE EDGAR SQUEEZES A DECISION AND TAKES TITLE

First and foremost I would like to say this week was suppose to the the tri-fecta winning weekend. This is the Manchester United " Le treble" week for me when Roger Huerta, myself and BJ was suppose to win. However due to a controversy decision win for Edgar in Abu Dhabi I am left shaking my head and anaylzing what went wrong with BJ. On thursday night we had my favourite fighter of mine Roger " El Matador" Huerta whom I idolize me striking game win his Bellator debut with a kneebar submission of Chad HInton. Myself I won a underground slugfest in Niagara in a second round KO win over Roy McDowell, then with all of it coming down to Penn's fight in UFC 112. Right from noticing a kneebrace worn on BJ's leg I hinge my arms knowing something is wrong. I was right.

In one of the biggest upset in UFC history, Frankie Edgar the number one lightweight contender beat longtime UFC lightweight kingpin BJ Penn, winning a controversy unanimous 50-45, 48-47, 49-46 decision at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. A stared wrestler in the beginning it was Frankie's stand-up that made the difference in the company's debut show in the United Arabs Emirates.

All I can say and will take it out of Dana's book, WHAT THE FUCK...right from the beginning from the introduction of BJ I notice as the camera's zoomed in on the lightweight champ I knew something was wrong. He didn't have the same killer instinct look he had when he fought Diego Sanchez at UFC 107. Then noticing he was wearing a kneebrace I can understand at that moment this wasn't going to go BJ's favour. So he wince away from the media that he may have injured himself during training and knowing that I wouldnt had bet him to win in the second round to a TKO finish. FUCK..honestly I am fucking upset. Worst part having your good friends come and rub it in your face and say too me " what happened to your boy?" I had no response but to punch a wall. Already in pain from my fight on friday this night was suppose to be a good night. YES TELL ME HOW YOUR ASS TASTE....damn BJ haters, nothing more than for them to rub it on me and make me go ape shit.

In the first round, Edgar's movement was impressive and on point, However Penn still countered and landed few punches. Edgar attempted his first takedown, but was punished for it, as Penn landed a few knocks on Edgar when he went for the shoot. At the same time, Edgar was able to give a few of his own punches and even gave him a mouse under the eye.

Second round, Edgar continued to showcase excellent footwork as he bobbled and weaved looking for a opening on BJ's guard. Penn was able to land strikes, but seemed annoyed by Frankie's defence. In the final minute Edgar did what we rarely see happen, he successfully took him down. YES FUCKING FRANKIE EDGAR, NOT GSP, FRANKIE. Penn immediately rebounded to his feet, but left a little surprise.

The third round featured more of a boxing match, Edgar displayed his improving stand-up thus winning the striking exchange. He once again tried for a takedown but wasn't able to complete it. Not sure as to why Frankie would like to challenge BJ's ground game I mean, we are talking about a BJJ champion. First ever non-brazilian champion winning a prestigious brazilian Jiujitsu tournament. Frankie would be put into a pretzel back to his New Jersey roots. The next time he went in for a shoot, Penn moved out of position so Edgar followed with a headkick.

Before the championship rounds began I already see a glimpse of the old BJ. He has turned away from his opponent in his corner and began to lean to the cage with his hands on top of the frame in exhaustion. I haven't witness this side of BJ since his fight with welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 100. Eversince his revised training regime with the Maravich brothers he has become a beast. Dismantling his last two opponents, Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez. The new and improve BJ was to become if not so already the greatest lightweight ever in mma, but already seeing BJ exhuasted I was a little concern heading into the last two rounds. Edgar still look to push forward and move around the cage while Penn showed signs of tiring. Fortunately BJ was able to land trademark jabs, But Edgar was also able to get the best of out the exchanges.

Beginning of the final round, Edgar once again was able to takedown BJ and keep him on the mat for a few seconds. This making the first time BJ in the lightweight decision being takendown twice in a match in 6 years, According to UFC announcer Mike Goldberg. Edgar continues to show his in-and-out technique which has been effective so far in this match, landing kicks, jabs, and continue to show no sign of slowing down.

As the final bell rang BJ has already shown he has lost this battle, while Frankie raises his hands and his cornermen hoisted him in the air, convinced he has down the impossible. Beat BJ at 155. With Bruce Buffer taking his sweet time announcing the victor, I gaspe and knew this wasn't suppose to happen this night. " NEWWWWWWWWWWWWW UFCCC LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THR WORLD....FRANNNKKIIE EDGGGARR"...FUCKKK. A SHOCKER. couldn't believe it, but no disrespect to Frankie his outclassed and outbox BJ and he wanted it more.

" He's the greatest champion ever, and I just beat him! the belt doesn't even fit me. Maybe I am a 145 pounder," said Frankie. Penn's last defeat at lightweight was against Jens Pulver back in 2006, and has held the title since 2008 when he defeated Joe Stevenson.

Eitherway whether BJ movers up or stays in the lightweight division I know he will do damage. The question is if he plans on staying at ligthweight would he get a straight rematch or should he fight Gray Maynard for the contender spot? This will be a interesting few weeks to see where BJ decision lies. REST UP BJ YOU'LL BE BACK....
